Farrukh Khan founded Farrukh Systems
Ltd in May 1988, at the age of 23, to provide for the needs of the
emerging electronic prepress market. Initially the company provided complete
PC-based DTP systems, but in 1989, after a request from an Irish customer,
began development of Imposition Publisher, which has now sold over 6000
copies in over 50 countries.
After being approached by a newspaper that was trying to pair up pages
for one of its supplements, it became clear that the standard imposition
solutions were not ideal for newspaper. Particularly newspapers needed
automation and tracking. So Page Pairer was developed around the core
Imposition Publisher technology. The core technology handled all the PostScript
and PDF issues involved in putting two pages and all the relevant print
marks onto on piece of film. Page Pairer also had a client server architecture
and an interface specifically for newspapers.
